Restoring Foundations. Recognizing Potential.

Patris Accelerated Learning Centre (PALC )

The Patris Accelerated Learning Centre (PALC) was established to serve children in underserved communities who lack access to stable and consistent learning opportunities.

PALC works within the Jenta community of Plateau State — including Jenta Adamu, Mangoro, Kerechen, and Jenta Makeri — where many children face significant educational and socio-economic challenges.

Why PALC Was Established

Prior to PALC, a seasonal “Reading Clinic” was offered during the August holidays to support basic reading development. However, the long gap between sessions meant that many children struggled to retain what they had learned.

It became clear that:

PALC was therefore created as a year-round Saturday learning centre, providing structured support, patient instruction, and basic nourishment.

JENTA

The Reality We Encounter

Many children in the Jenta community experience:

Some participants come from single-parent households. Others, though living with both parents, are required to scavenge or work informally to survive.

For many, PALC is not only a classroom — it is a place of stability, nourishment, and hope.

Each Saturday, children receive structured lessons and snacks, addressing both immediate needs and long-term capacity.

What PALC Provides

Numeracy Development

Instruction is foundational and patient. Some children are learning to hold a pencil for the first time. Others are bridging significant gaps in their schooling.

Vocational Pathways

For some children, traditional classroom progression may not be the immediate or most appropriate path.

In such cases, PALC seeks to connect learners with:

We are actively building partnerships with individuals and organisations willing to provide structured vocational training in areas such as:
